Heated Shawl for Camping UK: Traverseon Graphene Preview
Updated: Oct 22
Quick, honest bit first. I haven't worn this shawl on the bank yet, so everything below is based on the Traverseon product page specs. I'll update this post once I've tested it. That's how I do things here: I test the gear, and I tell you straight when I haven't.
Winter is nearly here, and so are the cold night sessions. If you fish carp through the dark, camp late in the year or live out of a van, you know the feeling. Your hands are fine, but your back, neck and head are freezing. A heated shawl for camping UK style might be worth a look, so here is what this one offers on paper.

Why a heated shawl for camping UK anglers and campers could make sense
The Traverseon Cordless Graphene Heated Shawl is a wearable heated blanket. It zips up the front, it has a hood, and it is hands-free. That last bit matters. On a night session you need your hands for the rod, the alarm, the flask and the phone. A normal blanket slides off every time you reach for something. A zip keeps it where it should be.
The hood covers your head and neck, which is where I seem to lose heat first on a cold morning at the lake. To be clear, that is a sensible idea and not a promise. Traverseon sells it for home and office use, so taking it outdoors is my suggestion, not theirs.
What the spec sheet says
Graphene heating that warms up in about 15 seconds
3 adjustable heat levels, so you can turn it down once you warm up
Zip-up, hooded and hands-free
Comes in light brown and blue
Rated 4.55 from 47 reviews on the Traverseon page
Those are the claims from the brand, not my results. I can't tell you how warm it feels at 2am in November, because I haven't been there with it yet. If you want to read what other buyers say, the reviews are on the Traverseon product page.
The power bank bit (please read this)
The shawl runs from a USB power bank. The power bank is not included. You need to buy one separately, so add that to your budget before you order. I haven't tested how long a bank will run it for, so I'm not going to guess at battery life. Check the product page for what the shawl needs before you buy a bank.
Where I think it could fit
Camping first. Cold evenings sat outside the tent or under an awning is the obvious use. A hooded zip-up layer you can sit in all night sounds a lot easier than wrestling with a sleeping bag in a chair.
Carp fishing next. Long night sessions and that cold wait before first light are where most of us struggle. If you already carry a power bank for your phone, this could be a simple add-on. I'll find out for myself on the bank and report back.
Van life too. A cold evening in the van, sat up in the back with a brew, is another spot where a wearable heated layer might earn its place. Again, that is an idea, not a tested result.
Price and deals
The price was about £56 on the page at the time of writing, but prices change. Check the Traverseon link for the current price.
Should you buy it?
If you feel the cold, you already carry a power bank and you are happy to buy before I've tested it, this looks like a sensible bit of kit on paper. If you want proof first, wait for my test. I'll be honest about what I find either way.

Also on a cold session: the heated seat cushion for fishing looks at warming you from below, and the hot tent for winter camping is a stove-heated shelter.
